History
O Instituto de Bromatologia da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) foi instalado em maio de 1965. Teve como seu primeiro Diretor o Prof. Dr. Cyro Melo Schmitz. Sua finalidade era difundir os conhecimentos de Bromatologia nos cursos normais de formação, executar e publicar trabalhos de pesquisas pertinentes aos setores da área e manter intercambio cientifico com instituições congêneres nacionais e estrangeiras.
